In another incident of temple vandalism in Jammu and Kashmir, a man desecrated idols at the gate of Dashmukhi Mahakali temple in Subash Nagar on Thursday. Shortly after the incident, police arrested a local from the area who allegedly vandalised the idol in an inebriated condition.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met) in New York, which has faced intense criticism and legal scrutiny over some of its listed treasures, including at least 77 Indian artworks connected to imprisoned smuggler Subhash Kapoor, has announced that 16 of those items have been repatriated to India. These 16 antiquities were “illegally removed” which made their way to the New York Museum.
A spate of attacks on Hindu temples in the US state of Texas and Australia’s Melbourne has triggered concerns among the Indian community living abroad, even as authorities probe for any possible hate crime. The first incident took place at Shri Omkarnath Temple in the Brazos Valley, Texas, on January 11, KBTX-TV reported on Friday.
According to reports, the temple was raided by burglars who stole some of the valuables from the premises, leaving the Indian community in a state of shock.
On October 11, controversial Islamist ‘activist’ Majid Freeman took to Twitter to inform that he had a ‘productive meeting’ with the Mayor of Leicester. He claimed that the Mayor made some commitments regarding the allegedly rising “Islamophobia” and acknowledged the “Hindutva” ideology was causing disorder. Majid Freeman, linked to links to terror organisations, is one of those Islamists who fanned the Leicester riots with fake news.
From late August to the 20th of September 2022, Hindus and Hindu temples in Leicester were targeted and attacked. Violent attacks and vandalism of homes by Islamist mobs over 3 consecutive nights of the 4th, 5th and 6th of September 2022, had left the Hindu community in Leicester afraid for their safety.
